Edward Muybridge

Edward was born in Kingston Upon Thames on the 9th of April 1830. Edwards farther died in 1843 leaving his mother to carry on with the business of being grain and coal merchant. Edward was emigrated to the USA, San fransico when he was 25 years old. His career started off as a publisher agent for a publishing company. Edward is well known for his photography in motion. He discovered  through his photography all four legs of a race horse coming off the ground. To continue, this process was done by Edward who placed a number of camera's that were large glass plate camera's and lined them up on the edge of the racing track, Were he lined clean white cloth sheets beforehand, so that he can get as much reflected light as possible. He connected the camera shutters to a thread which was triggered off when the horse passed by. The images were copied and formed into a silhouette on a disc to be viewed on his invented machine. This machine that Edward invented was called a zoopraxiscope which is slightly similar to a zeotrope. Moving on, this device shows Edward the images moving in a motion and giving him the vision of the horse running along the race track.

From doing research on Edward Muybridge, we worked in groups to create our own motion image using photo booth on the Apple mac computers:
