Film Editing Research

Edwin S. Porter

Edwin was an film pioneer in the early american days during 1896. Edwin is an american director who worked close with his editor. Porter became a huge influence when he discovered an amazing idea that we now call cross cutting/Parrell editing. He discovered this by cutting separate shots which creates a better story which makes the viewers have a better understanding.

D.W Griffin

Griffins influence was creating different techniques that hasn't been used before. He discovered close ups and flashbacks. Griffins aim was always thinking about the audience,to connect with the audience and to get them emotionally into the story and also get them to focus on a certain parts. Griffins Editing idea's are still being used today in movies such as Matrix.
