Clay Animation Evaluation

Evaluation

For this project, as a group we made a clay animation. Our clay animation idea was about two morph's fighting over an object that we used which was a pen, then one gets injured and the other starts to laugh. We decided to come up with this idea because we wanted our storyline to be funny as morph's animations was originally funny. We first done some research on the whole morph animation we watched a few original morph animations and took down notes. A few things were noticed such as the length of the animations which were no more than a minute long and also the story-lines which seems to be funny and entertaining.

Our clay animation was filmed in class, on the table. This location was decided because it was more easy and better to use especially with the equipment that we used which was a webcam. Therefore, we were able to use props which was:
  • Clay
  • Pen
  • Glasses case
Working in a group we each took a role. Myself and Olivia both took the role of moulding a morph each so we had two morph's to use. Olivia had the role of editing and I had the role of making the movements of the morph's alongside with Olivia's help. Overall we both took upon these roles to work faster and gain different skills.

Moving on, what worked well was the storyline of the animation, according to our feedback it was funny and entertaining to watch. Also the snap shots were on point. We added sound effects which made the animation complete. This worked well because it completed the story and made the animation look realistic towards an original morph animation.

What didn't work so well was the some of the shots. Some of our snap shots were caught with our hands moving the objects and morphs. This made our animation look slightly un professional. If I were to do this animation project again I personally change the objects that we used.

Overall, This was a good project to work on, I gained new skills and learnt something new. As a group we worked well by helping each other out with the different roles that we had. It was a quick and fun animation to make.
